Data Usage Precautions

Request for Data

To access the data, you should submit a “Usage Application” form for the data of interest in addition to your User Registration. Please carefully read the information on the “Data Usage Precautions” page before proceeding to apply.

Data Access Cap

There is no cap or limit on the amount of data you may access.

(Under)graduate students or researchers without affiliation need a recommendation (approval) from at least one researcher affiliated to a university or research institute in order to apply.

Application Guide

All necessary documents/forms are available at the “Download Documents” page shown below. Please fill in and send the documents/forms to the CSI by either post or email. Note that the number of required documents varies depending on whether the application is for a single user or multiple users.

Required Application Documents

-For Single-User Access
In the case of access by a single researcher or a class lecturer/leader, please submit a “Usage Application” form for each of the dataset required.

- For Multiple-User Access
In the case of access by multiple users or groups, a group representative should submit a “List of Joint Users” with details of all users in addition to the “Usage Application” form.
Note: When data is to be used for a university lecture or practical training exercise, only the lecturer(s) or instructor(s) in charge of the class should register as a user and submit the required forms for using the data. As for the attendants (students) of the class, there is no need to register as a user and submit any forms.

Application Approval

Once RUDA has received a “Usage Application” form, we will review it to determine whether access to the data can be approved. If your application has been approved, you will receive an approval notification through email and will be able to download the data required. For details on how to download the data, please see the “Downloading Data” page.
Please note that an application review can take several days, up to one week on average. We strongly recommend that you apply for the data in advance.
